Reduced complexity spatio-temporal scalable motion compensated wavelet video encoding

چکیده

Motion compensated wavelet (MC-Wavelet) video coding provides high coding efficiency and robustness along with spatio-temporal-SNR-complexity scalability. Such schemes use a multi-resolution motion compensated temporal filtering (MCTF) decomposition along with the spatial wavelet transform to remove video redundancy. These multi-resolution transforms partition the spatiotemporal sequence-volume into regions corresponding to desired spatial and temporal resolutions. In this paper, we present a novel method for reducing the motion estimation complexity in MC Wavelet coders by selecting adaptively different spatio-temporal decomposition structures and temporal motion vector prediction schemes. We present results to highlight the reduction in encoder complexity.
